What is your best tip for saving time when cleaning?
Having a carryall bucket with all the necessities (furniture polish, glass cleaner, cleaning cloths, trash bags, all-purpose cleaner, etc.) will literally cut cleaning time in half. Also, start in one room and work clockwise around the room with your carryall; this will ensure you stay focused and complete each room thoroughly.

What is the first thing you would say to most homeowners to help them be better organized?
Donate to charity. Regularly! By clearing out the old stuff you don’t need or want anymore, and doing it regularly, it is much easier to keep track of what is new and the things you really like that are in your house. Simplifying your home and donating to a great charity can be a good inspiration for staying organized.

Do you have cleaning suggestions for people with pets?
A vinegar solution is one of the best cleaning mixtures that is safe for your pets. Vinegar and water are gentle enough to use on hardwood floors and tough enough to help eliminate pet odors. It can even be used to rinse your pet after a bath to make the coat extra shiny!

Which highly efficient cleaning products would you recommend for home use?
One of my favorite products is the Swiffer Duster. It makes it easy to stay on track after your home has been professionally cleaned and is up to a level where just maintenance and upkeep are needed. Between cleanings the Swiffer Duster can make staying on top of your dusting a snap!

What is your best tip for saving time when cleaning?
Frequency is the most important. If you keep up with cleaning, you will ultimately save time. Many people I know touch up key areas of their homes each day. This way, it doesn't build up over the course of the week. You’ll end up spending a little time each day but save a lot of time on your weekend.

What is the first thing you would say to most homeowners to help them be better organized?
Don’t let messes build up. Many people will allow things to accumulate and pile up—the dishes, laundry, or paperwork. If you spend a little extra time washing a dish after using it, or dealing with a piece of mail right away, you will avoid the extra time it takes to do a sink full of dishes or tackle a huge mound of papers.

Do you have cleaning suggestions for people with pets?
Stay on top of it. I know this sounds repetitive, but you will save a lot of time by keeping up on the pet hair rather than putting it off. Also, using the proper cleaning tools and products will help as well. A vacuum cleaner with a pet hair attachment is a great investment.

Which highly efficient cleaning products would you recommend for home use?
While all our products come from environmentally responsible factories and are naturally derived from plants, corn, coconut, and essential oils, many of them are not readily available at the local grocery store. I recommend using products that can already be found in your home, such as vinegar, baking soda, and water.

What is your best tip for saving time when cleaning?
Obviously, having your home cleaned professionally is the ultimate time saver but, as an alternative, organization is key. Having a clear plan and a well-stocked cleaning bucket will help immensely. No penny pinching! Trying to save money on discounted products will cost you more in the long run. Your time will be depleted by cleaning the same surface for a second time.

What is the first thing you would say to most homeowners to help them be better organized?
Start with a plan. Evaluate your goals, space, time, etc. Sort your items into three categories: donate, toss, or keep. Also, be willing to let go of items you have not used in the past 18 months and consider keeping only items of sentimental value. Remember to stay focused.

Do you have cleaning suggestions for people with pets?
Keeping pets well-groomed is the first line of defense in maintaining a clean, pet-friendly home. Providing some form of carpet or mat at access points used by pets will lessen amounts of exterior debris entering the home. The ultimate aid for controlling pet hair is a quality vacuum. Again, no penny pinching! Vacuums specifically designed to remove pet hair warrant the additional expense.

Which highly efficient cleaning products would you recommend for home use?
Over the years, cleaning both residential and commercial properties, I have purchased many vacuums, and my absolute favorite is the Dyson. It’s worth all the hype and the price! Another gem is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, which has numerous uses. The erasers are fantastic for shower soap scum removal and also do amazing things in the kitchen. They are great for cleaning dinner off the stove!

What is your best tip for saving time when cleaning?
Arm yourself with the best cleaning tools and have them all at your side. For hard water staining and soap scum, we save ourselves elbow grease by giving the toilet bowl cleaner time to do the heavy work for us on toilet bowls and showers.

What is the first thing you would say to most homeowners to help them be better organized?
My first bit of advice is to throw it away, and my second is to get rid of it. A lot of people seem to have duplicates or triplicates of everything. How many pairs of sneakers, scarves, gloves, and winter coats does a child need? My answer is two pairs of sneakers, one scarf, two pairs of gloves, and two coats.

Do you have cleaning suggestions for people with pets?
We love the Dyson vacuum for pet hair. We find ourselves using most of its awesome attachments, which are a marvel. We prefer Murphy Oil Soap mixed with hot water for floors in homes with lots of pets because it’s nontoxic, and it really masks the “wet dog” smell.

Which highly efficient cleaning products would you recommend for home use?
Magic Erasers are so effective on most stains that we don’t know how we ever survived without them. We use Iron Out for those tough, hard water stains in toilets and showers. We recommend using Comet with a scrubber sponge. It removes mold, soap scum, most hard water stains, and it disinfects. Clorox Clean-Up spray with bleach does a great job on moldy shower curtains.

What is your best tip for saving time when cleaning?
To save the most time, work in an efficient order. First, collect all your supplies and equipment and bring them to the site. Next, get ready for cleaning by removing clutter and trash and getting them organized. Dust the entire site (top to bottom, right to left). Follow with the wet work (kitchen and bathrooms) and finish with the floor work (vacuuming and mopping).

What is the first thing you would say to most homeowners to help them be better organized?
Keep control of clutter, which is the biggest enemy of staying organized. You can do that by getting into the routine of categorizing items and disposing of them appropriately. Four good categories are: trash, give away, storage, and put away. Whenever a new item comes into your environment, make a quick decision about which category it belongs to, and then take the appropriate action.

Do you have cleaning suggestions for people with pets?
Vacuum often, especially the areas where your pets hang out. Use a HEPA filter vacuum with airflow of 100 CFM or higher to control hair, dander and allergens. If your pet has an “accident,” be quick to disinfect the affected surface. For carpet or fabric surfaces, wash and dry, and then apply baking soda. Let it sit to absorb the remaining moisture and then vacuum.

Which highly efficient cleaning products would you recommend for home use?
My favorites are Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Pine Sol, and Pledge Multi-Surface. With just these three products, you can clean almost any surface and remove any type of grime or dirt. Clorox Toilet Bowl is a strong disinfectant appropriate for bathrooms and other high-bacteria environments. Pine Sol can be used on nearly any flooring and Pledge Multi-Surface is an excellent general purpose cleaner.

What is your best tip for saving time when cleaning?
When you clean a house, you need to have a plan of attack. Start on one section of the house and clean from top to bottom and left to right. Keep all your products handy and in close proximity to the cleaning area. Do not skip around; just top to bottom, then left to right, and it will never let you down.

What is the first thing you would say to most homeowners to help them be better organized?
It is all about being prepared to tackle a project. Also, so you don’t get overwhelmed, do one room at a time. While you’re organizing, keep five to 10 microfiber cloths and an all-purpose cleaning solution with you so you can clean as you go. Also, use a toothbrush for getting into those hard-to-clean areas.

Do you have cleaning suggestions for people with pets?
To clean almost any surface, keep a spray bottle of vinegar and water, with a little laundry detergent mixed in. Give it a little shake; spray it on, wipe it off, and you’re good to go. Clean your carpets every six months, and steam clean your floors every other month to help reduce allergens.

Which highly efficient cleaning products would you recommend for home use?
Lemon oil, vinegar and water, and Magic Erasers are our best friends! Damp fabric softener sheets are great for wiping down mini-blinds. To save money and go green, use one left over from doing the laundry. To cut down on a significant amount of dust entering your home, get high-quality mats for inside and out. Also, the Sh-Mop is a favorite for making floor cleaning easy.
