What do you like most about working with tile?
The infinite number of material choices and sizes available. It enables us to mix different mediums to create a look that is unique and compelling to each project. It also allows for a tactile as well as visual experience.

Which tiling trends do you find most exciting?
The biggest trend is glass tile. We use glass a lot on its own, but it also integrates particularly well with natural stone and slate. The organic look and feel of the stone marries very well with the reflective qualities of the glass. Also, any rectangular-format tile seems to be popular these days and offers a different look than the traditional square format.

Are there sustainable tile options for home kitchens and bathrooms?
There are a lot of sustainable qualities to ceramic and porcelain tile. They are the most durable flooring options. When installed properly, they last many years, cutting down on replacement costs, time, materials, and disposal. They inhibit mold and mildew growth, making for better indoor air quality.

What are the benefits of different tiling materials?
Ceramic and porcelain tile are virtually maintenance free. They stand up to wear and tear, like cleaning agents and hard water discoloration in showers. Natural stone is durable and offers color variation and texture hard to duplicate in man-made tile. It does require some preventive maintenance to keep it looking its best. From a design standpoint, it seems to never go out of style.

What do you like most about working with tile?
Tile is a form of art; it’s working with a product one piece of tile at a time. When completed, you have a lifetime product that adds beauty and value to your home.

Which tiling trends do you find most exciting?
Glass tile is both fun and exciting to use in your home. It adds light and texture to any area.

Are there sustainable tile options for home kitchens and bathrooms?
There are so many sustainable tile options, from postconsumer glass tile to recycled porcelain tile. Tile by itself is a lifetime floor. It never wears out.

What are the benefits of different tiling materials?
Glazed ceramic and porcelain tile never needs maintenance, just regular cleaning. Stone tile, while needing to be sealed, has that timeless appeal and beauty that only come from the earth. Glass and metal tile, while having to be careful of the usage, have textures and colors unique to these products.

What do you like most about working with tile?
With the myriad of choices and materials available, tile gives character and personality to any space where it is installed. When installed correctly from substrate to finished product, it is durable and requires little maintenance.

Which tiling trends do you find most exciting?
Our customers are getting away from being “neutral” and choosing materials that they find interesting, which is exciting. This leads to different patterns, textures, colors, and sizes of tile. The end result is a home that reflects the owner’s style and taste.

Are there sustainable tile options for home kitchens and bathrooms?
To be sustainable is to build for longevity. Porcelain, ceramic, stone, and glass are but a few of the materials that exemplify that philosophy. Many manufacturers use recycled materials diverted from the landfill waste stream and scrap from the manufacturing process to create their materials. Many ceramic glazes are now lead free and even the adhesives and grouts we use are Greenguard certified.

What are the benefits of different tiling materials?
Porcelain tiles offer endless color and style selection, reproduce different types of natural stone, and can be used inside and out in wet or dry areas. Ceramics are great for pastel colors, crackle finishes, and hand-molded liners or cornice pieces. Glass tiles and mosaic blends are excellent for accents, shower and backsplash walls, and modern or contemporary design, or they just add a little flair.

What do you like most about working with tile?
A home is a large personal and financial investment, so hard-finish surfaces like tile are permanent and seldom inexpensive. I truly enjoy helping conscientious homeowners navigate the options to find materials that are space appropriate, are within budget, and add to a room’s character.

Which tiling trends do you find most exciting?
Without a doubt, recent water-jet technology advances have opened tremendous material and design possibilities. Some of the pattern and tapestry designs in stone, glass, and ceramic are absolutely striking.

Are there sustainable tile options for home kitchens and bathrooms?
Natural stone is the oldest, best sustainable building material. When properly installed and maintained, it lasts the life of a building. For a home to be sustainable, it needs to use materials that improve energy efficiency (stone has a high thermal mass), reduce waste and pollution (stone is 100 percent recyclable), are non-toxic (stone does not emit VOCs), and have a long life span.

What are the benefits of different tiling materials?
Porcelain tiles are always popular because they are easily maintained and now look better thanks to advanced screen-printing techniques. They are durable and resist scratching, water, and stains. Made-to-order ceramics are also great because they offer perfect design options and the benefit of long-lasting, low-maintenance style.

What do you like most about working with tile?
I love the colors and textures porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone produce in a space. Sizes and shapes are becoming more unique; mixed media in glass, metal, and even wood allow me to be creative and flexible in creating a custom look.

Which tiling trends do you find most exciting?
Linear mosaics are taking on more and more importance. I combine different sizes and materials to create truly unique and individual spaces for people. Also, thinking outside the traditional layout, you can create different looks by just turning a linear tile on its end and installing it vertically. A subway tile can look traditional installed horizontally, or more transitional or contemporary by installing it vertically.

Are there sustainable tile options for home kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes! More and more manufacturers are incorporating recycled content into their products. One manufacturer is even using cathode ray tube glass from discarded computer monitors and old television sets. Once the recycled content increases, the tile can be LEED certified. Additionally, more tile manufacturers are reusing their waste from production instead of discarding it.

What are the benefits of different tiling materials?
Porcelain, ceramic, slate, marble, granite, and glass are hypoallergenic! These materials do not off-gas; they do not burn in a fire; and they add value, beauty, color, texture, and durability to a home. A ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone floor will outlive most folks if installed properly.
