Newburyport Spring Fest
For the best in family fun this Memorial Day weekend, visit Newburyport, Massachusetts, where the annual Spring Fest and Carnival will be in full swing! The fest, produced by the Chamber of Commerce, takes place Sunday and Monday, May 28 and 29.
See: The event includes dozens of artists and crafters displaying and selling their work throughout downtown, as well as live music and delicious local food. Sunday’s entertainment includes Bryson Lang, Comedy Juggler at 10:30 a.m. in Market Square. Musical entertainment includes Theater in the Open – Flash Mob on Inn Street at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m. The 617 Band performs in the square from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday’s schedule features the Newburyport band Eagle in the Attic, which plays rock, alternative, funk, horns, and multi genre, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Eat: Specializing in fine Italian and Lebanese cuisine, Oregano Pizzeria and Ristorante, 16 Pleasant Street, features pasta dishes and brick-oven pizza. The menu at Brown Sugar by the Sea, 75 Water Street, includes noodle and rice dishes, many kinds of curry, soups, and filling salads with beef, pork, chicken, salmon, or shrimp. Seafood lovers will enjoy the Starboard Galley Restaurant, 55 Water Street, with time-honored dishes such as lobster cobb salad, fried native clam basket, broiled salmon hollandaise, and grilled tuna melt.
Enjoy: Monday’s schedule features a special reptile show from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Come and meet some of the friendliest reptiles in New England! Brought to you by Zoo Creatures/New England Reptile, Alana will teach you about some of the most impressive animals in the animal kingdom. From giant snakes to prehistoric lizards, you can learn, touch, hold and hug.
